Craving Something Crunchy? Try Kale Chips

Washed & Broken Into Pieces

I've have been making Kale Chips for about a year now. I tired them every which way... High heat, (too fragile) Medium heat, (okay) Dehydrator (which the family didn't love) and now low heat 250 degree's in my convection oven~(which is the winner).

*Don't worry if you don't have a convection oven a regular oven works just fine. If you have a dehydrator I encourage you to try them in there... I liked them very much, they were a hard sell with the family but you never know maybe it was the seasoning. I borrowed mom's dehydrator for that batch so I haven't re-tried it.

Whichever way you try, don't burn them... gross:(

I have to be honest with you besides blending kale in my Green Drinks and Kale Chips it's not my favorite green veggie. But kale is super good for you. Kale rates 1000 on The Nutrient Density Scale So I found ways to make it work. I love the kale chips and so does my family. I add kale to green drinks and you would not even know it's in there. So that's how I add Kale to my diet. FYI - Whole Foods puts The Nutrient Density ratings on their produce signs, so just pay attention next time. The scale goes from 1 being the lowest and 1000 (Kale) being the highest. So if I were you I would find a way to add it into your diet as well! There's more good news~ 1 bunch of organic kale sells for $2.49... much cheaper than a bag of regular not as good for crunchy junky chips ;)!!

Seasoned Kale Ready To Bake

Chrissy's Kale Chip Recipe

~ 1 Bunch of Kale (I like the curly kale)

~Sea Salt

~Nutritional Yeast  ( A Few Heaping Tablespoons)

~ Chili Powder

~Grapeseed Oil (About 2 Tablespoons)

~ Dash of Cayenne (optional)

I throw all the dry ingredients into a big salad bowl and toss... Then add the Grapeseed oil and toss again. Spread it on a baking sheet in a single layer, careful not to overlap. Bake at 250 degree's for about 25-30 min. Higher temps are about 20 minutes... keep checking when there super crisp taken them out and ENJOY place the rest in an airtight container.

** No worries if you don't have nutritional yeast, the kale chips will still be very yummy - it's available here or at Whole Foods. It's full of B-Vitamins and has a nutty cheesy flavor.**

As with all recipes experiment.... just use this as a guide for your creation and if it comes out great, please share with the rest of us :@)

Right out of the Oven! Yum :@)
